FAQ

What is psychotherapeutic counselling?

What distinguishes psychotherapeutic counselling from traditional counselling is its emphasis on the in-depth therapeutic relationship that is co-created between the therapist and the client.

Is our work together confidential?

Yes. The content of our sessions is treated with strict confidentiality in line with the BACP's professional code of ethics that I adhere to.

Is online counselling as effective as sessions held in person?

I am trained to work both face-to-face and online.

If you live or work within a reasonable distance of Kensington High Street, London W8, and prefer the idea of a dedicated therapy space outside your home, meeting in person makes sense.

However, I work with the majority of my clients online and it seems to result in an equally positive experience for both parties.

Working online means that specialist counselling is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of their location. Sometimes, even though clients have the option to meet in person, they may opt to have online sessions on account of practical reasons - such as not needing to build in travel time, or in circumstances where mobility makes travel difficult. And some clients are simply more comfortable in their own space.

How quickly will you get back to me?

I reply to emails within 24 hours.

What happens in an initial session?

Meeting for an initial session is an opportunity for you to ask as many questions as you like, and for us both to have a sense of whether we can work together therapeutically.

How long would we work together?

It varies from person to person. With a large percentage of my clients, we work together for between six and 12 sessions. I have some clients I have been working with for over two years.

We can discuss any therapeutic goals you might have and agree on an initial number of sessions that feels right for you. I work in an open-ended way and we would regularly review to check that our sessions together continue to meet your needs.

How much do you charge?

I charge £80 per session (60 minutes), including the initial session.

Payment for the initial session is made at the time of booking. Payments for subsequent sessions are made at any time prior to each session.

All payments are made by bank transfer.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Where cancellation is made less than 48 hours prior to a session, the full fee will be payable.
